Recover From Traumatic Experiences With EMDR

Disturbing life events may have a long lasting effect on how you feel and function in life without you even realising.

We call these effects trauma.

Trauma can result from:

  • Single events, such as an accident, injury, natural disaster, or violent attack
  • Ongoing, relentless stress, such as living in a threatening or critical relationship, or an unsafe setting, or battling a life-threatening illness
  • But also from commonly overlooked causes, such as surgery, the sudden death of someone close, the breakup of a significant relationship, or a humiliating or deeply disappointing experience.

Triggers may result in you feeling and behaving the way you did at the time of the event. Anxiety, depression or low self-worth may present itself therefore causing you to feel stuck. This can be changed.

How EMDR Can Help With Trauma Recovery

Such past events can be Trauma recovery with EMDRprocessed - regardless of how long ago the event(s) occurred.  They can become memories, rather than continue to stir up strong emotion in the present and result in you behaving in ways that don’t seem to make sense.

Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) is a World Health Organisation (WHO) and National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (NICE) recommended intervention for trauma. It has been used to help many clients at Fiona Passey & Partners, and continues to be available.
